For more than half a century, Philip Johnson was one of the most influential figures in American Architecture and design. He won the first Pritzker Architecture Prize for lifetime achievement as well as the Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects. We all know him well for the Seagram Building (which he built in collaboration with Mies van der Rohe), New York’s AT&T Corporate Headquarters building, and his own famed Glass House… but what was he like as a man?
