This year at Toronto’s 2013 Interior Design Show, AyA Kitchens and Baths collaborated with designer Johnson Chou to create Base. As described by AyA, “Base consists of a universal base unit upon which living, dining, kitchen, bed, bath and storage components can be plugged into to create flexible, infinitely configurable and expandable living systems all within a unifying, minimalist aesthetic.”

Of the new line, the kitchen, with it’s shifting and rotating planes, is by far my favorite. The hidden cooktop (concealed beneath the stainless steel portion of the island’s counter) which when revealed, provides additional work surface is a nice touch, but the show stopper is definitely the large wood dining table which pivots in and out of the kitchen island with swiss army knife like precision.

Brilliant. So functional and I love the minimalist aesthetic.
