DA chair (1946)

Ernest Race (1913-1964), founder of Race Furniture, was an integral figure in post-war contemporary design – achieving acclaim during the late 1940’s and 50’s for his unique and forward thinking furniture. As a designer in post war England, he faced the special challenge of material restrictions, which only served to drive his unorthodox and creative use of steel and plywood. The resultant whimsical forms have left a legacy to this day. Often seen only in black and white photos – Race furniture has re-issued a selection of his designs from the archives – allowing us the opportunity to see and even own a Race chair in living color.
