The festivities of The London Design Festival are well underway and, while you can expect to see some of D’s favorite finds from the week long event roll out next week, I’ve been squeaking in a few early shares (here and here) because… well, who can resist? Today, joining our other sneak peeks, we have the kinetic Perch Light by London based architect / designer / maker Umut Yamac.
Making its debut two days ago at Ventura London, Perch is a gorgeously unexpected balancing act of folded paper, brass and light. In keeping with its designer’s interest in kinetic sculpture, each carefully balanced bird is designed to conduct electricity through its magnetic feet – allowing it to rock, sans chords, upon the slightest breeze…
Umut Yamac’s Perch Lights are available in wall and floor lamp form and are fabricated meticulously by hand in London. For more information on these little charmers, swing by the designer’s site at umutyamac.com.
