Salon del Mobile 2016 and Flourisalon, better known as Milan Design Week, wrapped this past Sunday and we’re diving into our annual share of favorite finds. First up we have Ghidini 1961, a stunning new brand that debuted its inaugural collection at Spazio Rossana Orlandi. The fledgling company was born out of Ghidini Giuseppe Bosco – Italy’s leading business to business manufacturer of high quality custom metal fittings and fixtures. The child brand capitalizes on all the expertise of the parent, while tapping an international roster of design talent.
To head up their debut in the retail sector, the Ghidini family tapped designer Stefano Giovannoni to act as the brand’s creative director. Stefano in turn put together a diverse team of talented designers to bring out the best in the company’s technical expertise, all while highlighting the brand’s signature material of brass. From Nika Zupanc’s ‘Take Me To Miami’ palm leaf trays to Andrea Branzi’s illuminated ‘Incrocio’ shelving… the end result is a personality-filled collection that efectively turns brass into design gold.
