FIFTEEN…

years ago, Nash Martinez got his start in the design industry with the purchase and sale of an old globe found on ebay. Having made a tidy profit from the turnaround, he was immediately bitten by the antiquing bug – traveling from state to state, skillfully sourcing, cleaning up and re-imagining his finds for an increasingly smitten clientele. As demand rose, the challenge of sourcing the perfect (and often matching) vintage parts became increasingly challenging, spurring the creation of Martinez’ debut light collection under the Current label.

Comprised of six styles, the line takes inspiration from Martinez’ love for historical detailing – referencing art deco silhouettes and chic vintage vibes then rendering them in a fresh, forward looking way. Marked by an unexpected mix of materials ranging from solid glass spheres and wood detailing to delicate wheel-thrown porcelain and brass beads – each fixture is made upon order from handcrafted parts produced by a team of artisans. Today, on the heels of it’s ICFF debut, DSHOP is thrilled to welcome Current collection to our line of offerings. We hope you love each piece as much as we do!

THE KOKO… Fixed Pendant Light takes inspiration from a classic pearl necklace. Its graceful metal arc is hand soldered, and its luminous glass sphere is hand blown by celebrated glass artist John Hogan.

GRACE… under pressure! Grounded in classic brass and porcelain, this elemental wall lamp illuminates a weighty, solid glass sphere situated just inches above.

THE VESSEL… Pendant Light celebrates simple elegance in the form of white porcelain strung from a black cord. Each shade is handcrafted by ceramic artist Lilith Rockett, and comes with an optional solid brass or wood sphere accessory for those who crave a little extra kink.

STRIKE… takes its cues from the classic wood matchstick – translating the mundane into the luminous. Like its sibling Vessel Pendant, the Strike Pendant Light comes with an optional wood or brass sphere, allowing for adjustable cinching of its cord.

THE SURFACE… Ceiling Light combines utility and fine craftsmanship in one warm, minimalist piece. Each unit is one of a kind, bearing the unique marks of the porcelain artist’s hand.
