GLASS…
artist Heike Brachlow got her start while working as a glassblower in a small studio in Rotorua, New Zealand. A native of Munich, Germany, she earned her BA at the University of Wolverhamton in 2006 and subsequent PhD from the Royal College of Art, London in 2012. Just five years later, Heike now works as an independent artist out of her Pardon Mill studio in Essex, while lecturing and tutoring in her field of expertise. Noted for her kinetic work, Heike takes inspiration from geometry, architecture, travel, and human interaction – inviting a hands on approach to her art. Whether through her with monumental glass cylinders that spiral into action at a touch or her modular glass blocks that precariously stack – each of Heike’s pieces masterfully integrates transparency, form, motion and color to create eye candy of the highest order. Enjoy!
