FAMED FOR…
its 19th-century mansions, lively gay bars, and fashionable shopping and gallery scene, the Príncipe Real district of Lisbon stands as one of Portugal’s most covetable locales. The area comes complete with a heady mix of colorful mansions and townhouses, tree-filled squares, and history imbued interiors. In sum, it’s the perfect destination for renowned local designer Cristina Jorge de Carvalho to work her magic on one enviable apartment.
RESTORED…renovated and redesigned to perfection, the new interior incorporates traditional detailing while adding a contemporary twist. In the main living area, classic marble forms a sleek yet timeless fireplace while in the kitchen, contemporary blue and white tiles reference Portugal’s azulejos tradition. |
THE DESIGNER…further bolstered a sense of continuity between space and time with a near seamless flow of select classic motifs, as evidenced by the flow of herringbone flooring and simple yet elegant trims that thread old to new, room to room, as they echo the property’s original detailing. While clearly the space is yet to be furnished, we couldn’t imagine a more inviting abode. |
