A Pale Mint Kitchen by Hans Verstuyft

SET IN…

an old Art Nouveau home in the heart of Antwerp, lies architect Hans Verstuyft’s fresh vision for a pared back kitchen. The home itself presents as a unique montage reflecting years of additions, modifications, and even integrations of recovered objects from other homes. Accepting this combination of challenge and charm, Verstuyft envisioned an adapted kitchen layout imbued with ample amounts of classic marble – a nod to the home’s storied past.

THE TRANSFORMATION…

began with the tearing down of a wall followed by the integration of clean contemporary details. The extra thick marble was designed to flow seamlessly from counter to back splash to integrated shelf. Verstuyft opted to omit upper cabinets to create a modern uncluttered vibe and made up for the lost storage with a large floor to ceiling pantry.

AS FOR…

the delicate mint color – this was selected to tie in with the existing tones of the house and serve as a fresh foil to the historical wood arch that frames out the home’s most recent evolution.
