verdant Kangaroo Valley stands this contemporary minimalist residence by Sydney-based architectural designer Brent Lee. A consummate counterbalance to the towering trees and vibrant foliage that surround it, the residence’s geometric exterior hides a surprisingly subdued interior.
INSIDE…
the home is defined by a convergence of earthen tones emphasized by a recurrent motif of wood and stone features. In effect, throughout the residence, smoothed stone steps and a subtle stone fireplace overlook walls of wide wooden paneling and archways with rich wooden detailing. Framing these natural materials are textured, cream-colored walls with a sandy tinge and softened corners reminiscent of pueblo architectural design.
COMPLEMENTING…
the home’s minimalist aesthetic are subtle lighting fixtures and modern furniture that perfectly pair with the interior’s neutral and naturalistic palette. Hiding on the home’s ceiling are sleek cylindrical lights designed by Apparatus, in a deep bronze that mirrors the wooden legs of Pierre Jeanneret’s white Senate-Committee Chairs found in the dining room.
