Looking like something straight out of a fairytale, Jeffrey Dungan Architects has created a storybook-worthy vacation home in the heart of Alys Beach Florida. The four story retreat was informed by its setting – responding both to the petite parameters of the site’s 40 by 40 foot lot as well as to the Bermuda-inspired architecture of the Alys Beach community.
room to sprawl out, Dungan built up – designing three main stories then topping them off with a fourth in the form of a tower top room.
as a whole adheres to the exacting standards of the Alys Beach community – designed to withstand the strongest hurricanes with solid concrete and masonry walls, roofs of grouted cement tile and windows and doors that exceed Florida building code requirements; all while incorporating green / sustainable features such as white roofs that keep both home and community temperatures down.
the interior, Dungan kept things simple with pale weathered woods, vast expanses of white, and striking black details. Infused with hints of Bermudian, Greek and even Moroccan architecture.. this Florida vacation home feels all the richer for the mix.
