Set in the suburbs of Westchester, New York, this 1929-designed Tudor home recently underwent a full revamp courtesy of Monica Fried Design and Joeb Moore & Partners. The renovation encompassed a full interior overhaul done in tandem with a new addition which focused on creating strong ties between the interior and exterior landscape. The end result breathes fresh modern life into a nearly century old home…
DESIGNER…Monica Fried who brings both eight years of design experience as well as an MBA from Columbia Business School, cites “the European sensibility of combining old and new” as the inspiration behind the renovation. |
THE LARGELY…glazed addition, which was designed to create a stronger dialogue between indoors and out, serves triple duty – creating a more physically and visually expansive living space while simultaneously providing ample natural light as the sun washes across the ground level. |
THE TEAM…opted for a simple palette centered around blond wood, dark metal, and light walls – providing a “contemporary but not cold” backdrop for the client’s art collection. |
AS FOR THE FURNISHINGS…Fried selected a smart combination of contemporary and vintage classics, ranging from a pair of mid-century Serge Mouille wall sconces in the bedroom, to a quartet of 21st century Yabu Pushelberg chairs in the living room. |
TOWARDS THE…front of the home and on the upper levels, the designer’s vision of old world meets new comes full circle, as historical details such as paned glass windows nestle beautifully among cutting-edge architecture and design. From D to you, we wish you all a very happy holiday! |
