ART-COM has done it again. The makers of that awesome sculpture for the BMW Museum and more recently “Manta Rhei” have recently completed a kinetic sculpture for Changi Airport Group, Singapore. “Kinetic Rain” is composed of two parts, located above two opposing escalators within the airport.

Each part consists of 608 rain droplets made of lightweight aluminum covered with copper, and suspended from thin steel ropes. The droplets follow a 15 minute computationally designed choreography, which is meant to provide a moment for passengers to contemplate and reflect. The full installation spans over 75 square meters and rises and falls over 7.3 vertical meters.
