ANY MYKONOS NATIVE…

will tell you that Greek summers are best spent outdoors. With its stunning beaches, warm hospitality, and sprawling views of the Mediterranean, it’s easy to see why Greeks love to spend their summers outside. Located on the sandy shores of Platis Gialos, the newly renovated Branco hotel makes the most of the island’s gorgeous beaches and love of the outdoors. Designed by Athens-based architecture firm K-Studio, the hotel blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, seamlessly transitioning between spaces and providing visitors with an authentic taste of the island experience.

CHANNELING…

the Greek island’s reputation for hospitality, the designers at K-Studio created shared spaces that make guests feel welcome as soon as they enter. The communal design encourages chance encounters and new connections around the pool, restaurant and terrace, where guests can relax while enjoying the sun and views of the Mediterranean.

ENCIRCLING…

the pool are private timber framed gazebos, which allow guests to experience seclusion while still remaining close to the heart of the hotel’s social scene.

THE DESIGN…

for the hotel was inspired by the traditional construction and craft techniques of the region. Throughout, a natural palette and Cycladic materials such as timber and whitewashed walls evoke a sense of tradition, while custom-designed contemporary furnishings bring a modern sensibility.

GUESTS ENTER…

their quarters via traditional walled courtyards, transitional spaces that provide room for de-sanding and relaxation. Each courtyard is topped with a vined pergola – providing cover and shade to the lounge areas beneath.

THE ROOMS…

themselves are well-appointed, with lounge areas and small nooks. As in the rest of the hotel, local construction techniques create a space that is cozy and welcoming.

ON THE…
