the rugged hills of Santorini, overlooking the Aegean Sea, lies a minimalist oasis. Designed by Athens-based architecture firm, K-Studio, hotel Canaves Oia Epitome offers sprawling, unobstructed views of the ocean and a unique brand of Santorinian luxury.
TO COMPLEMENT…
the traditional Cycladic whitewashed walls, the designers selected a dark, locally-sourced stone that blends with the surrounding rock, rooting the hotel in its environment.
EACH UNIT…
opens onto a private patio and pool, with space to soak up the Greek sunshine, as well as a shaded courtyard to cool off. The stone-clad walls that separate the patios block island winds, affording guests exceptional privacy without compromising Santorini’s iconic views of the Aegean.
USING…
the Cycladic technique of combining enclosed and semi-enclosed spaces, the designers created external dining areas next to private patios. These wood-beam covered shaded rooms, allow guests a cool reprieve from the hot summer sun.
INSIDE…
the residences, K-Studio created laid-back living spaces with low-slung furnishings and an airy vibe. Like the hotel’s exterior, the well balanced rooms offset dark stone fixtures with whitewashed walls and minimalist furnishings.
THROUGHOUT…
the resort, ancient olive trees evoke the island’s rustic origins. Resembling an undiscovered ruin, the hotel’s landscaping inspires curiosity and encourages guests to explore their surroundings.
THE RESORT’S…
reception and dining area opens onto an expansive shared patio and pool. In addition to the poolside dining room, a second restaurant, housed under a massive pergola, offers outdoor dining during the day and stunning sunset views in the evenings.
