FOOD AS FETISH: Redefining Serveware

Scroll To View

Formally trained as a product designer and intensely passionate about the culinary arts, New York City based designer Ido Garini of Studio Appétit has teamed up with Netherlands based porcelain artist Lenneke Wispelwey to redefine how we present, consume and experience food.

The collaborative project, entitled Luscious Food Cravings, is a study of food passions expressed in the form of objects, dishes, recipes and images. The line of porcelain serveware that has arisen from the study centers around a series of pyramid-like ‘dishes’, which at once act as plate, utensil, and display system. The collection also includes spiked vessels, geometric spoons, sauce ‘drippers’, and even tiny mirrors intended to reflect the meal and dining experience.

Also part of the project are a series of unique, if at times slightly risqué, recipes which can be accessed via the Luscious Food Cravings site. Bon Appétit!
