SITUATED…

in Montreal’s Golden Square Mile lies the new Four Seasons Hotel by the renowned Lemay and Sid Lee Architects. The 18 story hotel is ideally located just steps from the city’s best restaurants, shops, and museums in an area once famed for the Victorian era mansions that lined its streets. Today, the hotel’s black prism-like structure cuts a sharp new silhouette while simultaneously inviting in and reflecting back the city’s surrounds, skyline, and aptly, distinct four seasons.

entry, guests are treated to a stunning lobby design by the Parisian Gilles & Boisier and local Philip Hazan. At 5.5 meters in height, the white marble space is warmed by brass detailing and punctuated by a functional art installation of marble block seating. On its flanks, two black wood paneled walls ground the space while giving a nod to the city’s storied architectural past.

A SHORT…

trip up in the ground lobby’s brass elevators lands guests and locals on the hotel’s sprawling third floor, aptly billed as “Montreal’s hottest new destination to dine, drink and connect.” Designed by Atelier Zébulon Perron, to house MARCUS – celebrity Chef Marus Samuelsson’s modern take on a traditional brasserie – the ambitious space is delineated into four main areas – a restaurant, terrace, lounge and bar. The entire level is designed to encourage human interaction with a particular focus on serving guests from early in the morning into the small hours of the night.

arrival to this ‘social square’, a preternaturally chic taxidermy king crab from Deyrolle sets the tone for the main restaurant’s sustainable seafood and raw bar focus. In keeping with this oceanic theme, the lounge area swirls and refracts with communal mid-century-inspired, velvet banquettes and glittering slats of prismatic glass.

AMONG…

the hotel’s other inviting features is an 9 story work of art by acclaimed Montreal artist Pascale Girardin. Encased in a glass atrium, ‘Contemplation’ is comprised of 1 – 3 foot wide white and gold petals aptly designed to represent the 4 seasons. From spring blossoms to summer petals, autumn leaves to falling snow – each element is multiplied in impact by an infinite array of glass reflections.
