Inspired by the tiny foot of the 5 oz gecko (which is capable of producing an adhesive force equivalent to carrying nine pounds up a wall without slipping) scientists have developed a new device called Geckskin. When applied to a smooth surface, an index-card-sized piece of Geckskin can support a 700 pound object on a wall. What makes this material so groundbreaking is that it requires no drilling, no holes, is reusable and leaves no residue upon removal. Imagine the possibilities for moving around your art collection, shelving, even your television! Here’s hoping this makes it to market sooner rather than later!
