FROM THE EXTERIOR…

this Hamptons home resembles many of the traditional shingled residences found throughout the Long Island seaside community. Inside, however, the home is a masterclass in modern minimalist design. A collaboration between interior designers Maureen Winter McDermott and Tina Ramchandani, who met while working under celebrated interior designer Vicente Wolf, the residence is defined by a thoughtful use of space, neutral tones and natural materials.

THE PROJECT…

arose when Ramchandani’s clients approached her to design the ground up build of a 7,000 square-foot Quogue home. Having wanted to work with Winter McDermott since the pair’s respective launching of their own design firms, the duo joined forces to apply their minimalist mindsets to the sprawling Hamptons residence. Conveniently, Winter McDermott’s own Sag Harbor-based practice specializes in the regional aesthetic – masterfully applying a modern touch to traditional residences.

PER THE CLIENT’S…

request, Winter McDermott and Tina Ramchandani Creative maintained a grey-toned palette throughout, varying shades and adding hints of cold blue to give the rooms dimension. In keeping with this silvery theme, the open-concept kitchen is defined by a striking stainless steel waterfall island, professional style range, and iconic wire-framed stools by Harry Bertoia. Adjacent to the kitchen is a reclaimed wood dining table, lit overhead by David Weeks Studio’s Hennen Cross lighting fixture. Nearby, the living room is defined by a wall of windows that floods the room with light and brightens the interior’s subdued minimalist palette.

ATOP…

the metal and glass staircase lies the master bedroom, complete with lush, full length curtains. Meanwhile, the en suite spa bathroom is clad in floor-to-ceiling Pelle Grigio marble punctuated with a sculptural tub by BainUltra.

THE COMPLETED…

residence is as much a testament to Winter McDermott and Ramchandani’s enduring friendship as it is to the timelessness of their style. Balancing a traditional exterior with a minimalist interior, the pair ensured the Hamptons home would remain a sophisticated getaway for years to come.
