Joost van Bleiswijk was born in The Netherlands in 1976 and graduated from design school in 2001. Today he primarily works on his own collection of functional art, built out of laser cut metal planes meticulously fashioned together without the use of glue, screws or other attachments – a detail which makes his beautiful works that much more fantastic. Joost operates on the strong belief that to learn to excel in something, one must be allowed the time and focus necessary to explore long term projects. True to form, with each year that passes, Joost’s pieces become more complicated, interesting and architectural. While material, construction and finish make his works appear thoroughly of the moment – their overall forms are derived from a meticulous analysis and distillation of classic iconic object and furnishing silhouettes from the past. Joost’s work is sold and exhibited through galleries world wide.
