Young talents, Julie van De Keere and Mathieu Luyens, of the Belgium-based JUMA Architects have just rolled out a new project, and it’s a beauty. Completely renovated from a typical 1976 bungalow, the new site exudes the light, airy simplicity of a holiday home all year round. On the exterior – the landscaping was simplified, the raw brick painted crisp white and a dramatic entry door installed. As for the interior – the newly opened space owes its expanse to the removal of both basement and attic staircases (replaced with stage hatches) and the absorption of the former garage – where the kitchen now resides. The architects opted for a limited palette, centering around light woods, white walls, vast expanses of windows and the occasional hit of black…
