LOCATED IN…
the Little Venice Conservation area of London, this 1860’s residence had undergone numerous alterations over the years which left the property largely devoid of its original historical detailing. A major renovation by the London firm Originate entailed peeling back decades worth of interventions and painstakingly restoring the property to its original glory, all while bringing it into the 21st Century.
RENOVATIONS…included new wire-brushed Larch flooring in a herringbone pattern, extensive plaster work, the replacement of interior doors and fireplaces, as well as restoration of a cantilevered stone staircase. Beautifully appointed furniture, including mid-century pieces by Jorge Zalszupin and Pierre Jeanneret, quietly defer to the space and compliment artworks by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Alexander Calder and Celso Renato.

ARCHED…doorways lead to peaceful interior spaces offering restrained furnishings that at once complement the architecture, while deferring to elegant interior detailing.
REFERENCING…classic materials, the spirit of the master bathroom is clean and contemporary, offering a Zen-like atmosphere in spite of its strong black elements. Book- matched marble slabs above a statuesque tub further emulate the overall rigorous attention to detail.

NEW INTERVENTIONS…such as the meticulously executed master closet, built ins, and floating staircase are rendered in a black stained wood which not only dramatically announce their arrival, but allow them to defer to the original architecture. This contrast of dark textured wood against smooth white walls offers a beautiful play on texture and light.

A CASUAL…outdoor terrace perhaps summarizes all; where the new outdoor furniture combines light and dark in a playful manner under the watchful gaze of the pristine white façade.
