Turning out some of the most luxurious interiors imaginable, Matthew Frederick has been recognized by the design industry’s very best, with nods from the likes of Architectural Digest, AD India, Elle Decor, and the famed Andrew Martin’s Interior Design Review. In the 15 years since his firm’s founding, Matthew’s gorgeously global take on American style has garnered him an international following – expanding his company from its New Jersey roots to include offices in Manhattan, LA, Greenwich Connecticut and St Petersburg Russia. Today, the M. Frederick brand remains steadfast in its original ethos of “elegant living for everyday life” as it delivers turnkey service on everything from interior design and architecture to bespoke furnishings and art curation. When not heading up his team of talented design professionals, Matthew touches down in the New Jersey countryside where he lives with his wife, two young children and new puppy Baker.
Long time fans of Matthew’s work, we invited him to share some of his most valuable design tips, tricks and resources. There were no set questions, and the only rule was that he dig deep and be generous. Here’s what he had to say…
WHERE TO SHOP…I like poking around the stores in Lambertville, NJ. I always find great art and interesting objets on each visit without fail. I also like to attend Rago auctions, also in Lambertville. |
INSPIRATION…How can you not love Pinterest? Inspiration from around the world never ends… |
CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT…Microsoft Paint… I fear the day they do away with this amazingly simple digital editing tool. I use it for everything. It’s old school but it works like a charm every time. |
BEST ADVICE…I’d rather add than delete. In my opinion, it’s always easier to add something to a room to finish it off than to over commit and have to remove something. |
Thank you, Matthew!
