CHRISTIAN SIRIANO’S…

rise in the fashion world was meteoric. Since first wowing the judges on Project Runway back in 2008, he’s become known for his innovative collections celebrating body diversity and as a source of show-stopping red-carpet looks for the likes of Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama.

MEANWHILE…

the multi-talented Siriano has been quietly reaping kudos for the homes he has created for himself and for friends, as well as for the design of West Hollywood’s London Hotel and his own colorful New York boutique, The Curated.

THIS PAST…

January, he made it official, announcing the launch of Siriano Interiors, a full-service boutique architecture and design firm. Among its early entrees into the world of interiors are the light-flooded, high-ceilinged rooms of a midtown Manhattan townhouse with extraordinary 19th century architectural detail. Siriano turned the living room and study into showplaces for a sophisticated mix of furnishings, including classic mid-20th-century pieces and Siriano’s own custom designs.

A 1940s…

settee with curvaceous wood arms by Danish designer Alfred Christensen and a pair of plump, tufted 1969 chairs by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina set the stylish tone, along with Soriano’s light-hearted Lula chair, whose distinctive round back cushion is fastened to a triangulated lacquered wood frame.

THE TEXTILES…

that have been Soriano’s fashion métier also play a big role in his interiors. The settee and a matching armchair are clad in cushy sheepskin; the Lula’s back and seat are a nubby bouclé. A smooth, snowy carpet underlies the furnishings in the living room, while a richly textured, hand-knotted wool rug brings warmth to the study.

INTRIGUING…

accessories complete the interior, with a sensuous stoneware vessel by Elise Birnbaum playing off a neoclassical marble pedestal and fresh abstract art by Ewa Budka bringing a fashion-worthy swish of colorful, kinetic energy.
