Nobis Hotel Copenhagen - Renovation & Redesign by Wingardhs

IN A CITY…

where design rules, Nobis Hotel is Copenhagen’s newest gem. The 77-room boutique hotel artfully marries old and new, featuring modern interiors and luxury amenities inside a grand and historic, pre-war building. In the lobby, guests are greeted at a reception desk made of cast concrete, a reminder that the Danish Classicist building was one of the first in Copenhagen to be constructed out of the cutting edge material.

BUILT IN…

1903, the 60,000 square foot landmark has a rich history, originally constructed for an insurance company and then serving as the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music for many years.  Sweden’s most renowned architect, Gert Wingardh, oversaw the building’s renovation and redesign, preserving original details of Nordic Classicism such as its delicate plaster reliefs and dramatic marble staircase with ornate bronze balusters.

MODERN FINISHES…

in natural materials define the hotel’s palette and style, from the stormy grey Bardiglio Nuvolato marble that wraps each bathroom, to natural leather upholstered furniture and tall white drapes that emphasize the building’s soaring ceilings.

TONES OF…

cool blues and sage greens play beautifully against the natural finish of Danish wood furniture and wide oak floors in oversized chevron patterns. Hans Wegner’s CH25 Chair quietly punctuates the Nobis aesthetic – a mix of design, luxury, history, convenience, and culture, that has us googling airfare to Denmark.
