Studio Piet Boon seamlessly blends design with context, culture, and environment. The global architecture, interior, and product design studio defines its signature style as “the perfect balance between functionality, aesthetics, and individuality” – which is beautifully expressed in their award-winning Office Brabant.

to create a timeless and functional concept for a Dutch office space, Piet Boon drew inspiration from the farms in the surrounding area and designed a modern interpretation of a barn. The one-story space flips the conventional concept of an office space on its head; the space is flooded with natural light, and expansive windows frame stunning, panoramic views of farmland. Inside, the atmosphere is comfortable and residential.

for the interior were chosen with careful attention to consistency. Natural stone is heavily featured in all washbasins, pantries, flooring, and the fireplace. The design team selected soft, unsaturated colors throughout the building to complement the natural color of the wooden beams.

spaces feature high, pitched roofs, and are connected to each other by flat-roofed “boxes”. This differentiates each space within the long, rectangular structure while maintaining an open flow through the interior.

symmetrical patio with a tranquil reflecting pool is enclosed by the building’s square-shaped layout, creating a peaceful, private retreat. Set against a backdrop of stunning views, the building’s large windows provide sweeping views over the surrounding golf course, while the windows looking out toward the patio and pool are intended to create more intimacy.

Piet Boon has been chosen as the 2020 Architizer A+Awards Jury Winner in the Office – Low Rise category in recognition of the functional and aesthetic qualities of Office Brabant, as well as their intent, innovation, and timelessness in design.
