Pierre Forsell Flacons

THESE…

rare gems of Swedish design are the work of famed designer, Pierre Forsell. Born in 1925, the Stockholm native trained as a silversmith – attaining his journeyman’s certificate in 1949. As a burgeoning talent, Forsell began teaching at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm while taking on commission work with iconic Swedish brands, ranging from the cutlery experts at Gense to the brass masters at Skultuna. Over his 30 year employ with Skultuna (from 1955 – 1986) Forsell was widely praised for bringing new life to the centuries old company. Shown above, are two early pieces of Forsell’s work created between 1950 and 1966. While the bronze flacon at left shows off Forsell’s characteristic clean style, the copper and brass decanter at right, stands as a rare Skultuna piece produced in a series of only three. Stunning!
