The Finnish furniture company Nikari is known for its exquisite and delicately manufactured furniture, made of wood harvested from the local forests of Fiskars Village. In celebration of the year 2012, Nikari has invited 12 talented designers to create furniture items which reflect the company’s philosophy of quality and respect towards nature. Each designer was assigned one of the 12 months of the year. And for each collection/item designed, 12 versions were produced and made available for purchase. While these items are sure to cost a pretty penny… part of the proceeds from each sale is donated to protecting forests globally. Shown here are two of my absolute favorites from the project. You may view the designs for January – November on the Nikari site, but you will have to stay tuned for December!
