Airy Living Room

Founded by…

Lucia Bartholomew and Cayley Lambur, Electric Bowery is a Venice, California–based architecture and interiors studio led by a female-centric team. The studio is dedicated to crafting spaces that blend sustainability, luxury, and a thoughtful reflection of the distinct creative personalities of their inhabitants.

Set against…

breathtaking coastal views, this Pacific Palisades residence has been reimagined as a serene retreat, where Spanish-style architecture meets a warm, contemporary sensibility.

With its dramatic canopy-hooded fireplace and sweeping curtains in a soft gossamer check pattern, the designers have softened and glamourized rustic style, bringing a fresh twist that nods to both Scandinavian minimalism and the refined cottage aesthetic of Dutch designer Axel Vervoordt.

Electric Bowery Living Room

The color…

palette draws from the earth tones of the Santa Monica mountains, anchored by a curving sectional sofa upholstered in fern green velvet and a chocolate-toned rug that highlights the newly installed polished oak floorboards. A vintage coffee table and a 1970s Uno Kristiansson floor lamp are paired with other furniture classics, including a Wulff lounge chair and ottoman from &Tradition—reissued from an original 1960s silhouette by Danish cabinetmaker Jørgen Wolff—as well as a solid white oak coffee table, a contemporary design by Nickey Kehoe inspired by Charlotte Perriand’s bold design vision.

Arch Detail

The designers…

preserved the original ceiling beams and enveloped the walls in natural plaster, creating a softly textured backdrop. With just a few dramatic pops of color and sculptural furnishings — like the blue abstract canvas by James Herman and brass dome ceiling lights by Lawson-Fenning — the architecture itself sets the mood, guided by the home’s soft arched openings that frame each space.

Rustic Kitchen

Combining…

rich colors with old-world elements, the bijou kitchen features a vintage table with hand-turned legs and a gracefully curving range hood that is clad in glossy oxblood tiles. Inspired by traditional hacienda style, the space is elevated with modern touches, including bespoke dark wood cabinetry and a central island topped with Rosso Toscana marble.

Cozy Den

The entry hall…

makes a visually compelling statement, with sweeping perspectives and natural materials. A circle of terracotta-inlaid flooring mimics a circular rug, drawing the eye to the subtly segmented spiral staircase, framed by a slimline wrought iron banister. Complementing the curve of the staircase, a bespoke mustard-toned bench designed by the practice hugs the wall in a quiet echo of the architectural lines. A striking ‘Zig Zag’ pedestal table by Noir Trading, rendered in black rubbed mahogany, introduces a bold geometric contrast, its stacked base offering a sculptural rhythm that balances the sinuous flow of this foyer.

Custom Staircase

The main…

bedroom continues the theme of undulating forms, with a four-poster bed featuring turned wooden posts that echo the sculptural curves of the handmade Pollux table lamps by Danny Kaplan Studio. Vintage sconces and a ’70s-inspired bespoke chaise — a nod to the iconic works of Mario Bellini for Cassina and B&B Italia — infuse the space with warmth and nostalgic character, enriching the room’s charming and cozy atmosphere.

As founders Bartholomew and Lambur put it, “Every element was considered to create a dialogue between bold form and lived-in comfort, drawing from the natural palette and light of the California landscape.” This balance between sculptural drama and quiet restraint, nostalgia and modernity, with accents of Scandinavian minimalism, defines the spirit of this uniquely charming home.
