Artfully…

restored and renovated to perfection, the Spanish Queen House designed by Robson Rak Architects and Interior Designers exemplifies a gorgeous fusion of 1920 Spanish mission architecture with 21st-century luxury. Original architectural elements like arched doorways and sleek white pillars span the entire home, culminating in a steel and glass atrium addition at the rear of the property.

Natural…

light floods the atrium living room and dining room, which feature steel bi-fold doors for seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining. Bold, sumptuous colors evoke old world luxury while subtle shades of white create refreshing contrast throughout the interior. An artful mix of new and vintage furnishings infuse the space with authenticity and modern eclecticism. Sculptural ceramics from Pepite and Modern Times and oil paintings by Heidi Yardley and Jill Kempson bring a timeless refinement.

Both…

elegant and energetic, this unique renovation was personalized for a young, social family of six. A thoughtful mix of textures and materials – silver grey limestone floors, travertine bench tops, tarnished silver light fittings and veneers – were chosen for their richness as well as their durability within a busy family home.

The glass-walled…

atrium offers gorgeous views from both indoors and outdoors. Framed by a large rectangular window, a white Den-Holm sculpture creates a compelling focal point in the backyard.

A 1920’s…

speakeasy-inspired steel and travertine bar creates an unforgettable entrance – a perfect invitation for social gatherings, all while a bespoke wine cellar makes ingenious use of the negative space beneath the main staircase.

Outfitted…

with a sleek black bannister and minimalist balustrades, the staircase strikes a balance between historical and modern; its contemporary design is accented by a Genevieve Felix Reynolds painting and contrasted by a traditional leaded glass window. Carpeted steps allow the home’s youngest residents to venture throughout the house with ease.

The master…

bedroom continues to harmonize old and new. The elaborate arched relief detailing on the ceiling is counterpoised with grey textiles and a lush upholstered bed frame in midnight blue. Another Genevieve Felix Reynolds painting hangs offset above the bed, achieving a touch of unexpected whimsy.

Smooth…

variegated marble blends timeless luxury with stunning contemporary minimalism in the master bathroom, while a striking black clawfoot tub and matching fixtures play off the marble’s dark veining.

True to…

its architectural roots, the exterior of the property features a red tile roof and thick stucco walls. However, the home is fully outfitted for 21st-century living, complete with double glazed windows and doors, smart wiring, and insulation.
