This holiday season, DSHOP has partnered with J.L. Lawson & Co. to create an exclusive edition of 25 gorgeous little spinners. Custom designed and hand turned from a solid brass bar, each top is balanced for superior spinning performance, then polished to perfection. The result – a striking yet functional work of art worthy of passing down through the generations.

Also joining DSHOP just in time for the holidays, is the tiny charmer shown just above. Referred to as a teetotum,  née T totum, this polygonal top is most commonly used in gambling. While its history can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, our particular form of teetotum is based on those used in the medieval game Put & Take. Still played today, the game is guided by a simple set of instructions, in which the player’s trajectory toward triumph or defeat is ultimately determined by a spin of the top.
