The Vipp Loft

KNOWN FOR…

their iconic and functional home accessories and minimalist kitchen cabinetry line, Danish manufacturer Vipp’s latest endeavor is Vipp Hotel; a collection of meticulously designed dwelling spaces throughout Denmark where fans and clients of the brand can live with Vipp products overnight in a “home-away-from-home” experience.

THE VIPP LOFT…

is one of these spaces, perched at the top of an old printing factory from 1910, in the Islands Brygge neighborhood of Copenhagen. The two bedroom, 4,000 square foot space features exposed original oak beams and a dramatic winding staircase in black perforated steel.

DESIGNED BY…

Copenhagen-based architecture firm Studio David Thulstrup, Vipp Loft is dotted with art and contemporary sculpture alongside iconic Danish designs, from a pair of Tired Man sheepskin armchairs by Flemming Lasson to several pieces by Poul Kjaerholm. Thulstrup chose wide plank Dinesen Douglas floors as a soft complement to the black and white steel furniture, accessories, and architectural elements that define the Vipp aesthetic.

THE DOWNSTAIRS…

living and dining areas are anchored by a large Vipp kitchen designed for entertaining. Known as a utilitarian brand with timeless style, the ideology behind Vipp’s kitchen systems follows suit. Offered in only one color – black – the steel cabinetry collection is showcased in the Vipp Loft by a long, multifunctional island and open shelving system for displaying the company’s classic housewares.

UPSTAIRS…

in the mezzanine, the Vipp Loft features a study, a library, and a sky bridge that connects to a second secluded bedroom at the peak of the loft space. Vipp lighting, furniture, and of course accessories can be found throughout. For a family-owned business that started its legacy almost 80 years ago with a simple pedal waste bin, Vipp’s rise to becoming a symbol of classic Scandinavian quality and style is inspiring. A third Vipp Hotel location in Northern Copenhagen is opening soon…
