WHEN…

dusk falls on Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor, moody, mysterious shadows envelop those who ascend to Uncle Ming’s, a dramatic new destination for discerning whiskey aficionados atop the stylish 25-story AKI Hotel.

THE LUXURIOUS…

hideaway is the work of multidisciplinary design and branding firm A Work of Substance, all rich materials and the impeccable craftsmanship for which the firm, based in Hong Kong, Paris and Bali, is renowned.

UNCLE…

Ming’s is an exquisite amalgam of rectilinear geometries and soulful materials, including timber panels, natural brass and amber-colored glass. It’s almost like being inside a whiskey bottle: an atmosphere soaked in warm light that evokes the treasured spirit itself.

THE 1,400…

square foot lounge is a den of cubic volumes, comprised of oak lattice grids applied to walls, partitions, cabinets and back bar. Light refracted through rippled amber glass bricks casts enigmatic shadows, creating an aura of suspended reality, where time stands still for the delectation of prized single-malt scotches and other sophisticated spirits.

SUMPTUOUS…

paneling, rounded custom seating of channeled teal leather and glittering showcases behind which rare bottles sparkle like the jewels they are, set the stage for a peak experience, not just of whiskey-tasting but of design connoisseurship and lighting magic.

IT’S MASTERFUL…

mood-setting, an atmospheric stage for the discovery and appreciation of the treasured whiskies of the world and a to-die-for perspective on the harbor, mountains and architecture of this multi-faceted city.
