The Vienna Design Week fun continues with Landscape from designer Charlotte Talbot. Talbot’s collection of 5 table top objects are a modern day interpretation of the ceremonial table scape items of the 18th and 19th centuries. The goal was to transform these obsolete table settings and make them functional for modern day use. The end products are a mix of old and new – both in method of manufacture as well as in material composition. The collection’s bases are composed of extruded silver and the platters of Hi-Macs (acrylic mass mixed with natural minerals). In each case the base silver structures support the modern Hi-Macs surfaces… rendering both past and present dependent on one another for the whole to make sense. Available through Wiener Silber Manufactur Shop.
Charlotte Talbot is currently based in Denmark where she works for Konstantin Gricic Industrial Design Studio. Photos and video courtesy of Charlotte Talbot.
