With New York Design Week (NYCxDESIGN) here and underway, D’s inbox is rapidly approaching critical mass… although when it is filled with beauties like these, it’s difficult to complain. Today I’m offering a little sneak peek into one great event  – Wanted Design. Making its debut in 2011, Wanted Design has quickly become a do not miss on the spring New York Design circuit. With this in mind, I’ve selected a few D favorites from the many ‘Wanted’ items slated to go on display beginning this Friday May 17th. Enjoy!

Above – Illusion credenza by Luis Pons of LPDL. Love it!

Hourglass Floor Table Lamp by Danielle Trofe Design. Powered by the kinetic energy of falling sand, this four foot lamp must be continually rotated in order to keep the lights on.

Bipolaire, part of the IN VITRO collection by Tat Chao. This unique light is made from up-cycled glassware gathered from donations and second hand shops.

Indi wallpaper by Trove.

Workshop.chic side table by Daniel Moyer Design. A table with socks… it just doesn’t get cuter than that.

Bias Sled Chair by Alexander Purcell Rodrigues. This beauty was inspired by the surface planes created in crystalline structures.

A series of ceramic bowls by Antoine Boudin for the French Sèvres – Cité de la Céramique.

24K by RISD alum Ben Blanc. A geometric volume, formed from a series of welded steel rods which are coated in a 24 karat gold finish.

Hadron light by Joe Doucet. Inspired by play, this looker is composed of hand-blown translucent black glass filled with a ‘mad stretch’ of electroluminescent wire, which swirls and tangles in contained chaos.

‘Doubtful Sound’ rug by David Trubridge for the Australian, Tsar Carpets. Inspired by Trubridge’s inimitable landscape photography, this rug represents the rhythm of leaves floating across dark waters.

And last but not least – Crystal lighting from the Cristalleries de Saint-Louis. In 2011, Saint-Louis invited Paola Navone, Kiki Van Eijk and Ioanna Vautrin to design a collection of lighting inspired by the company’s archives, which date back to 1586. This little gem is one of the results!

Wanted Design 2013 kicks off Friday May 17th (invitation only) at The Tunnel located at 269 11th Avenue, New York, NY. Doors open to the public on Saturday May 18th and remain open through the 20th.
