SET IN…an apartment building hailing from the period just prior to Baron Haussmann’s redesign of Paris (1853 – 1970), this 220 square meter pied–à–terre bears the marks of Greek influence – a style that would ultimately give way to the neoclassical leanings of later Haussmannian buildings. |
WITH VISIONS…of restoring the property to its early 19th century glory, the apartment’s new owners turned to Studio Razavi Architecture – a firm known for their sensitive mediation between engineering and architectural culture. |
WHILE…the team opted for a radical reconfiguration of space – moving the kitchen adjacent to the front entrance and placing the master suite where the kitchen once stood – great care was also taken in the maintenance and revitalization of the home’s original details; the results of which shine especially bright in the intricate patterning of the flat’s rehabilitated wood floors and plaster-work. |
THIS EMPHASIS…on restoration was balanced with an ample dose of modern / contemporary style, with highligts including a custom Mondrian-inspired bookcase by project architect Alireza Razavi and a well appointed curation of iconic 20-21st century furnishings by decorator Sylvie Acker. |
THE END RESULT…is a Parisian retreat designed to welcome its American owners each holiday season in true French style. |
