Set within a small town in the province of Girona, Spain, lies the newly restored 15th century palace turned gallery/weekend home, Palau de Casavells. The process of transforming the voluminous historical property into habitable/exhibitable space took four years and was led by partners Jacobo Valenti and Luis Sendino. The result is a dramatic medieval canvas that serves as backdrop to an enviable arrangement of antique furnishings, mid-century classics, important contemporary pieces – all punctuated by contemporary works of art ranging from small scale photography to significant large-scale paintings. While the exhibits and furnishings are ever changing, the current setup highlights a fascinating dialog between mid century furnishings, contemporary art and medieval architecture. Palau de Casavells is open by appointment and on weekends September through May and daily June through August. Enjoy the tour!
