While best known for his furniture design, Christian Liaigre considers himself first and foremost an interior designer, and while widely regarded as a master of minimalism, the designer’s ornately detailed 18th century Paris home may come as a bit of a surprise. In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, he explaines, “My favorite period of design is the 18th century… the 18th century was the time when there was the most creation in jewelry, furniture, metal hardware-everything was modern. Versailles was the force-the motor.” Architectural details aside, Liaigre’s selection of furniture for the duplex have prooved to be far more in line with his brand’s streamline sensibilities, making the full apartment a facinating excercise in eclecticism.
