COLOR EXCHANGE: Julie Hillman On Form & Texture

Scroll To View

New York City based designer Julie Hillman is perhaps best known for her masterful mixing of collected antiques, modern furnishings, contemporary art and a healthy dose of luxurious fabrics and textures – a tool set that rendered her well suited for the design of this 2,500 square meter home in the Hamptons – especially considering her client’s insistence on the near complete exclusion of color. Hillman’s solution to the design challenge was a careful selection of strong furniture forms and a thorough working of textures to create a comfortable summer home that, while light on color, feels like it’s not missing a thing.

love these projects…visually stimulating, yet calm and relaxed…not easy to do. love the textures and ‘chunkiness’…a big slice of, ‘yes, please!’
